ReferenceUpdated

The short version

Arasaka and Militech are the two corporations that matter most in Night City. Around them sit the weapon makers, the cyberware makers, the fuel and food giants and the services. This page lists 35 of them with what they make, where they are based and how strong they are by era.

How to read this list#

Entries say what the company makes, where its HQ is, and how its status changes between eras. Where only one era is on record, only that one is given. Seven of these corporations have full pages on this site: Arasaka, Militech, Trauma Team, Kang Tao, Biotechnica, Petrochem and NetWatch.

Each one ends with a hook, because a list of logos is nobody's idea of a good night out. For what they put in bodies, see the cyberware list. For the guns, see Cyberpunk weapons.

The two giants#

Everything in Night City runs through these two. The Fourth Corporate War, 2021 to 2025, was fought by Arasaka for CINO and Militech for OTEC, and the rivalry never ended.

  • Arasaka: Makes: corporate security, banking and manufacturing, including military vehicles and weapons named after Japanese history. HQ: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; North American HQ in Arasaka Tower, Corporate Plaza. Status: among the most influential corporations in every era. In 2077 it has heavy influence over Night City. In 2020 the Arasaka family held 54 percent of the company. The old tower was lost to the 2023 nuclear blast, the new one is the tallest building in the city. See Arasaka. Our read: every Night City story is an Arasaka story eventually.
  • Militech: Makes: weapons, military vehicles, drones, tanks and private military contracting. HQ: Washington, D.C. Status: one of the world's biggest arms makers, with a main customer in the NUSA military and police. Backed the NUSA in the Unification War, and its 2077 weapon naming uses Greek heroes for rifles and American military events for pistols. Offices in Corporate Plaza. See Militech. The other half of every argument about who really runs the world.

Weapon makers#

The arms trade shapes the guns you see in 2077. Each maker has a house style.

  • Kang Tao: Makes: guns, especially smart guns that fire guided caseless rounds. HQ: Taipei in 2020, Shenyang in 2077. Status: independent from Japanese interests in 2020, restructured in 2050 with Chinese government ties. A building in Corporate Plaza, and it equips Trauma Team with weapons. Pick it if you want your gun to do the aiming. Full page: Kang Tao.
  • Malorian Arms: Makes: powerful custom handguns. HQ: Night City in 2020. Status: founded by US Marine Eran Malour. Its 3516 pistol was built to Johnny Silverhand's spec, and its Overture revolver is a 2077 weapon. You know it by one pistol and one rocker.
  • Kendachi: Makes: advanced melee weapons and purpose-built chipware. HQ: Chuo-ku, Tokyo. Status: not a megacorp but part of a keiretsu. It supplies 6th Street. Not the biggest name on the list, but 6th Street's gear comes from here.
  • Tsunami Defense Systems: Makes: guns, such as the Nue pistol. HQ: Osaka, founded in 1998. Status: one of the four largest Japanese weapons makers and a top-tier name. Easy to overlook next to Arasaka. That is the point.
  • Techtronika: Makes: cheap, simple, high-power weapons and, by 2077, military robots. HQ: Moscow. Status: described as the 'Russian Militech'. Its Burya revolver and Grad sniper rifle are in 2077. Cheap and loud. Think of it as the budget Militech and you will not be far off.
  • Rostović: Makes: affordable smart weapons and precision rifles. HQ: Serbia. Status: the 'poor man's alternative' to top brands, with highly modifiable guns. Also makes the Quantum Tuner cyberware. Budget buy with room to tinker. Don't expect Militech polish.
  • Constitutional Arms (ConArms): Makes: simple mid-tier shotguns and machine guns. Its Liberty pistol is a long-running classic. Its Defender light machine gun is aimed at corporate law enforcement. The honest workhorse: nothing fancy, nothing broken.
  • Nokota: Makes: the D5 Sidewinder smart assault rifle in 2077. A single rifle on the shelf, but it is a good one.
  • Budget Arms: Makes: the cheap Carnage shotgun, a 4 gauge pump-action. The name is a warning label.

Cyberware and chipware makers#

Between them, these companies fill the shelves of every ripperdoc in the city.

  • Kiroshi: Makes: optics and other cyberware. HQ: Kamisuwa, Nagano, Japan. Status: a relatively small Japanese group, but the recognized expert in cybereyes. The 2077 Kiroshi campus is in Charter Hill. Small company, big reputation: if someone says cybereyes, they mean Kiroshi.
  • Dynalar: Makes: cyberware and electronics, from subdermal armor to chrome arms and full body conversion in 2020, and a Sandevistan in 2077. HQ: Dallas. Status: prominent through the eras. Its 2077 Night City complex is in Charter Hill and it has a store in Downtown. Chrome arms and full conversions in 2020, a Sandevistan in 2077. Range is the selling point.
  • Zetatech: Makes: chipware, computer hardware, robotics and aircraft. HQ: Cupertino. Status: once a small firm, a world leader in cyberware and aerial transport by 2077. Builds the Atlus AV used by Trauma Team and Network 54 and a Sandevistan and Berserk. A small firm that grew up. Rare underdog story, corporate edition.
  • Rocklin Augmentics: Makes: prosthetics and the neuroport. Founded in 2004 in Rocklin, California, as Rocklin Prosthetics for the Veterans Administration. Started with prosthetics for veterans, and the neuroport came later.
  • Biotech Σ: Makes: chipware that affects bodily functions as well as moving data. In 2077 it also builds a cyberdeck. Chipware aimed at the body, with the head as a bonus.
  • Tetratronic: Makes: high-end cyberdecks, and punch card machines for post-DataKrash train stations. The Rippler deck is its 2077 product. The name to remember when a netrunner brags about their deck.
  • Raven Microcybernetics: Makes: cyberdecks. In 2077 the Raven Microcyber Mk.1-3 is one of the decks on sale. The workmanlike deck brand.
  • BioDyne: Makes: a 2077 Berserk operating system. A Berserk maker you will hear about at the ripperdoc, not in the news.
  • Moore Tech: Makes: a 2077 Berserk operating system. The other Berserk maker. Same shelf, different logo.
  • QianT: Makes: the Warp Dancer Sandevistan in 2077. Sandevistan fans know it by name.

Net, medical and services#

The companies that sit between you and the Net, a hospital or a ride.

  • NetWatch: Makes: Net policing. HQ: London. Founded 1991. Status: a worldwide agency that works closely with corporations and governments. After the DataKrash it tried to contain rogue AIs and built the Blackwall. In 2077 it works overtime to keep the Blackwall intact. Our read: they built the wall and they cannot quite keep it standing. Full page: NetWatch.
  • Trauma Team International (TTI): Makes: rapid-response medical services, billing patients from the moment they dispatch. HQ: Seattle. Status: premium paramedics. Reorganized in 2077 and raised prices as crime rose. See Trauma Team. Premium paramedics, premium invoice.
  • Delamain Corporation: Makes: armored taxi service driven by artificial intelligence. HQ: Vista del Rey, Heywood in 2077. Status: a private service that serves all of Night City. The taxi that thinks for itself. Be polite.
  • Red Cab: Makes: taxi service. Status: the largest transport service in Night City around 2045, with ground cars and AVs on call by Agent or Data Term. The old standby for anyone without a car or a plan.
  • Combat Cab: Makes: armed, armored taxi service. Status: a fleet of about eighteen cabs around 2045 that went into combat zones. The cab you call when the neighborhood is on fire.
  • Ziggurat: Makes: communications infrastructure. Status: a plan to turn the old Data Term fiber-optic network into CitiNet, a cheap, reliable system built to avoid another DataKrash. The plan sounds sensible. In Night City that is suspicious.
  • Euro Business Machines (EBM): Makes: computers and high-tech electronics. HQ: Hamburg. Status: a leading manufacturer in the 1990s, one side in the First Corporate War, still active in 2077. Old money in tech, and still in the room.

Fuel, food, media and travel#

The big commodity corporations. They look boring until the supply runs short.

  • Biotechnica: Makes: genetic engineering, pharmaceuticals and the wheat that becomes CHOOH2 fuel. HQ: La Jolla, Southern California. Status: the largest biotech company in the world. In 2077 its protein farms make the southern Badlands livable and it is in Corporate Plaza. If the Badlands are habitable, thank the farms. Full page: Biotechnica.
  • Petrochem: Makes: petrochemicals and the CHOOH2 fuel, under license from Biotechnica. HQ: Dallas, Texas. Status: the largest CHOOH2 producer in 2077, with a tower in Corporate Plaza. Droughts in 2076 hit its crops and its fortunes. Fuel is power. Droughts are the great equalizer. Full page: Petrochem.
  • SovOil: Makes: petrochemicals, mining, heavy industry and power. HQ: Moscow. Status: the richest company in the Soviet Union, a state industry from 1998 and privatized in 2002. Soviet-era giant, privatized and still rich.
  • Continental Brands: Makes: food, cereal and drinks. HQ: Tulsa, Oklahoma. Status: a spin-off of Petrochem's old subsidiary, formed after the Fourth Corporate War when it bought half of Petrochem's CHOOH-4U stations. Cereal money, born out of a corporate war.
  • Orbital Air (OA): Makes: cargo and passenger transport to Earth orbit. HQ: Nairobi, Kenya around 2000 to 2008, then Hayman Island, Australia. Status: a practical monopoly on orbital lift in the 2020s. A side in the First Corporate War. If you are leaving the planet, you are paying them.
  • Network 54 (N54): Makes: news and entertainment broadcasting. HQ: New York in 2020, Santa Fe by 2045. Status: held a monopoly on a nationwide frequency since 2010, curtailed after the Fourth Corporate War. Its 2077 Night City office is in Downtown and its coverage leans pro-Militech. Watch the news here knowing who owns the camera.
  • Night Corp: Makes: city development and public works. HQ: Night City. Status: secretive. Founded by Richard Night and restructured twice. The 2077 headquarters is in Downtown. The company that built the city and keeps its secrets.

Fixer's notes#

Opinion: the Arasaka-Militech split is the story, but the quiet winners are the ones that sell everyone else something. Kang Tao supplies Trauma Team, Zetatech builds the AVs, and both sell to the same city.

Tabletop use: the same corporations run the Cyberpunk RED world, but their reach changes. The Time of the Red is the era that follows the Fourth Corporate War. See Cyberpunk RED.

For the biochip at the center of the 2077 story, see the Relic and Soulkiller entries in the lore glossary.
