Militech: Arasaka's Rival, Weapons and Cynosure
The short version
Militech is the American arms and private-army megacorp, Arasaka's long-time rival in Cyberpunk. It builds the guns, tanks and cyberware you see across Night City, and in Phantom Liberty its old Cynosure bunker is tied to the Blackwall.

What Militech is#
Militech makes weapons and military vehicles and rents out soldiers. Its catalog runs from personal firearms to drones, tanks, aircraft and combat armor, and its main customers are the American military and police.
Its guns are everywhere in the tabletop books and in Cyberpunk 2077, where the Militech name sits on rifles, shotguns, vehicles and cyberware alike. Rule of thumb: if a gun in Night City looks like it was built for a war, it is probably theirs.
Where it came from#
Militech starts in 1996, when an Italian weapons designer, Antonio Luccessi, started Armatech-Luccessi International. A retired Marine general, Donald Lundee, became CEO and the firm renamed itself Militech in 2002.
The turning point is 2004. After the earlier standard rifle failed in the field, Militech's Ronin light assault rifle won the US infantry contract, and the company grew into the largest defense contractor in several countries. One bad rifle for the other guy, one empire for Militech. That history comes from the tabletop sourcebooks, so it belongs to the 2013 and 2020 lines.
The war with Arasaka#
In the tabletop Fourth Corporate War, Militech was hired by OTEC and Arasaka by CINO. The two security giants then turned the contract into a private fight, with Lundee and Saburo Arasaka as the personal faces of it. The Arasaka page covers the Night City bombing that ended Arasaka's hold on the city.
U.S. president Elizabeth Kress blamed Arasaka for the 2023 blast, while rumors held that Militech had funded the strike team and supplied the device. Kress nationalized Militech afterward. That is a 2020-edition account; Cyberpunk 2077 names only Johnny Silverhand. The company that probably helped light the fuse got the government contract. Make of that what you like.
Militech in Edgerunners and the game#
Night City in Edgerunners is split between megacorporations, with Arasaka and its rival Militech as the two biggest. The fixer Faraday has ties to both Maine's crew and Militech, which is the sort of friendship that ends with someone owing someone.
In Cyberpunk 2077, Militech's Apogee Sandevistan is a unique named item whose in-game description hints at secret lunar research labs. The company also makes the Falcon Sandevistan; the Sandevistan page has the rundown. Tip: if you want a Militech-flavored build, start there.
Spoilers Phantom Liberty and Cynosure
In Phantom Liberty, the netrunner Songbird flees to Cynosure, an old Militech bunker facility, to reach the Blackwall. V meets a Militech machine there that is implied to be controlled by a rogue AI.
The background: Militech wanted to restart Project Cynosure, an early attempt to capture rogue AIs, to use the Blackwall against rivals such as Arasaka. Rosalind Myers, the NUSA president in Phantom Liberty, is a former Militech CEO. Opinion: that is the whole company in one line. The weapons dealer ends up running the country.
Fixer's notes#
Our read: the setting never lets Militech be the hero. The American-flag marketing sits next to a private-army arm that has helped terrorist groups and military coups.
Easy mistake: merging the 2020 and 2077 accounts of the 2023 bombing into one story. The Militech link comes from the older tabletop material. For the other side of the rivalry, read Arasaka, then Max-Tac, whose officers are described as using Militech weapons and vehicles.
