Heywood in Cyberpunk 2077: The Glen, Wellsprings, Vista del Rey and the Valentinos

Night CityUpdated

The short version

Heywood is the central residential district of Night City, nicknamed the biggest bedroom in the city, with three sub-districts: The Glen, Wellsprings and Vista del Rey. The Valentinos and 6th Street fight over it.

What Heywood is#

Heywood is where most of Night City sleeps. Locals call it the biggest bedroom in the city, and it houses more people than any other district. The north is parks and skyscrapers next to City Center. Go a few blocks south and it is small buildings, and gang territory.

For the full map, see Night City districts.

The three sub-districts#

Heywood is a district of contrasts, and the sub-districts map them neatly.

  • The Glen: The state-owned heart of the district: city hall, a justice court, a heavy NCPD presence and Reconciliation Park on its northern edge. Also home to the exclusive Embers club and El Coyote Cojo, the bar of Mama Welles.
  • Wellsprings: The safest part, full of working stiffs and underpaid corporate employees, with a waterfront that suits tourists. It is the closest thing Night City has to a middle class neighborhood.
  • Vista del Rey: The poorest, most underinvested and crime-ridden corner, and the frontline between two gangs. Residents who can leave do, and gangers fill the gap.

Who runs it#

The Valentinos and 6th Street share the district and keep fighting for it, mostly over Vista del Rey. Keep your head down and they usually leave you alone. The Valentinos even point lost tourists back to City Center sometimes. Moto Cielo is Valentinos territory.

By 2077 the war between them is getting worse. Jackie Welles comes from here, and Welles' house is in Heywood.

How Heywood changed#

In Cyberpunk RED this is a different place. Heywood was an overpacked suburb to the southeast of central Night City, an industrial area flooded with refugees. It became an official district in 2028, and the nomads made it their main campsite. The part now called Santo Domingo was South Heywood.

The 2077 version came later. A reclaimer group cleaned up the old South Night City, a Combat Zone, so well that residents of North Heywood moved in and kicked them out. They renamed the district Heywood, because the name was who they were, not where they lived.

Landmarks worth knowing#

Welles' House is where V stays for six months after the prologue, in the home of Guadalupe and Jackie Welles. El Coyote Cojo (the Limping Coyote) sits on the corner of Los Lobos and M. Ebunike streets in the Glen. Embers, on the 13th floor of an unnamed building, is a luxury restaurant and club for high-ranking executives, which tells you what the Glen's other tenants do for a living.

Moto Cielo is Valentinos territory. Reconciliation Park, at the north end of the Glen, borders Corpo Plaza and was built to celebrate the rebuilding after the nuclear blast.

Heywood has everything a Night City district can offer except safety. There are boutiques and seafood restaurants along the waterfront and colorful open-air markets and taco stands further in. That mix is why it feels like a place people actually live.

Fixer's notes#

Where to go first: the Glen, for the contrast. Reconciliation Park, the city hall and the corporate clubs share the sub-district with the neighborhood bar of Jackie's mother.

What players miss: how much of this district is about pride. The residents love Heywood, warts and violent gangs and all. Our read: it is the emotional center of Night City, because it is the only place where normal life looks like it could still work.

Tabletop tip: Vista del Rey is a ready-made turf war. Run a session where the party is hired by both sides.
