City Center in Cyberpunk 2077: Corpo Plaza, Downtown and Arasaka Tower
The short version
City Center is Night City's central business district, built on the ground the 2023 Arasaka Tower bombing flattened. It has two sub-districts, Corporate Center (Corpo Plaza) and Downtown, and it is the most fortified district in the city.

What City Center is#
City Center is the showroom. Corporate towers, floodlit plazas, luxury hotels and clubs, all packed into the middle of Night City to prove that the city's economy is back. The in-game database entry says as much: it exists to flaunt economic power.
Our read: the place is built like an apology for 2023. Every wall is loud about how safe it is. See Night City districts for how it fits with the rest.
Corpo Plaza and Downtown#
Two sub-districts, two moods.
- Corporate Center (Corpo Plaza): Brutal skyscrapers and blinding floodlights. Home to some of the biggest companies in the world: Arasaka, Militech, Biotechnica, Petrochem and Kang Tao, among others.
- Downtown: Narrow alleys, clubs, celebrities, offices and exclusive apartments. The northern waterfront is an art district with galleries and concert halls. Turn down the wrong alley and you hit love hotels, dive bars and drug deals.
How it was rebuilt#
It used to be the City and Corporate District, and it was the battlefield of the Fourth Corporate War. In 2023 a nuclear device went off in the uppermost floors of the Arasaka Towers during the Fourth Corporate War. More than half a million people died.
In Cyberpunk RED the ruins are the Hot Zone, an irradiated abandoned district. Volunteers and nomad nations such as the Aldecaldos spent years clearing rubble, and Night Corp offered free cyberware protection to anyone willing to work the worst spots. The operation finished in 2052. A new Corporate Center followed, plus Reconciliation Park to the southwest.
After the Unification War, Arasaka was welcomed back in 2070 and built a new regional headquarters on the old tower site. Within a few years it was the tallest building in the city.
Who runs it#
The corporations, plain and simple. By 2077 it is the most fortified district in Night City, with NCPD officers and corporate security keeping watch. Gangs are not the story here.
At night Downtown is where the energy lives, and where security gets thinner.
The security theater#
The developers' own framing, from the game's art book, is that all this security is overcompensation for fragility, a reaction to a nuclear attack that showed even the biggest corps can be burned down by a determined few. It reads like airport security: a show of force born of insecurity.
Landmarks#
Arasaka Tower is the headline. It is the North American headquarters of Arasaka and stands on the site of the earlier Arasaka Towers, in Corporate Plaza. Beyond it, the plaza holds the offices of other megacorps, and the waterfront in the north has galleries and concert halls.
Reconciliation Park was designed to celebrate the rebuilding and sits southwest of Corpo Plaza, though it technically belongs to Heywood.
By day, the streets are full of businesspeople heading to office towers, with NCPD officers and corporate security keeping order. By night Downtown takes over, with nightclubs and the late-night crowd.
Fixer's notes#
Where to go first: Corpo Plaza, to stand under Arasaka Tower and see what it looks like when a company builds a headquarters to intimidate. Then Downtown for the clubs.
What players miss: the history under your feet. The crater, the Hot Zone, Reconciliation Park (just over the border in Heywood) are all there, and the district tells you the story if you look for the seams.
Tabletop tip: City Center is the district where a quiet job beats a loud one. Anything with a gun drawn here has the entire city's attention.
