Who they protect#

The Mox call themselves the people who protect working girls and guys from violence and abuse. The gang came together from people who felt threatened and oppressed, especially sex workers and sexual minorities. Their territory is not a block on the map so much as a line of work.

They are a small gang. About 200 to 250 members, Lizzie's Bar for a headquarters, and presence around Jig-Jig Street and the Cherry Blossom Market. The weapons are mostly bats and clubs, with Mox Cleavers and Inciters carrying blades and gear similar to the Tyger Claws, probably taken from fallen opponents.

Lizzie Borden and the 2067 riots#

The origin story is a riot. In 2067 a prostitute working for Elizabeth "Lizzie" Borden, a strip club owner and former sex worker who treated her people fairly, is raped and murdered by Tyger Claws gangers. Lizzie goes after three of the attackers with an axe and puts their bodies on display in front of her club, with a message that the same will happen to anyone who hurts one of her workers.

That night the Claws raid and wreck her bar and kill her. The reaction nobody expected is a wave of riots across Night City, with Claws members and businesses as targets. Lizzie becomes a symbol of defiance.

Her successors rebuild the bar as Lizzie's Bar and form the Mox. The Claws strike a deal to leave them alone, but the bad blood remains.

What they look like#

The gang had its own clothing brand called BITCH V.13. Their cyberware leans practical: optical camo, cooling systems and augmented cyberlimbs.

In pre-release material the gang was called the Lizzies, and some fans assumed it was a fan club for the singer Lizzy Wizzy. It was not, and the real thing is more interesting.

Judy and Lizzie's Bar#

The most important Mox for most players is Judy Alvarez. She works as a braindance editor from a basement workshop under the bar, and she is a romance option for a V with a feminine body and a feminine voice. Read her page for the Clouds plot, which pits her against the Tyger Claws.

The bar is also where V first learns what the braindance tool does, in the job The Information. Upstairs is a bar. Downstairs is a lab.

The shotgun

A Mox decal ends up on a gun. Judy gives V a special Budget Arms Carnage shotgun called Mox after the quest Pyramid Song. It increases weapon handling and reload speed, and boosts Shock and Knockdown chance when an enemy is within three meters. If you did not romance her, it sits in her apartment shortly after. If you did, she messages you in a few days to say she left a gift.

Fixer's notes#

Opinion: the Mox are the gang you root for, because the reason they exist is a thing a person can agree with. They are also a good lesson in how Night City gangs form: nobody planned them, a bad night did.

At the table, they are a safe house and a source of information about the Claws. Do not treat them as a charity. A gang that exists to hit back is a gang that hits back. For the rest of the map, see Night City gangs.
