The short version#
Dorio is the second-tallest person on Maine's crew, behind Maine. Two bare-metal cyberlegs, a muscular frame, short blonde hair and an open jacket with nothing under it. She is also the crew's mother hen: gruff to look at, cheerful when she drinks, and soft with the few people she trusts.
Her boyfriend is Maine, and the way they show affection involves a lot of punching.
Her story before Edgerunners#
Dorio was born in Iceland to a family of professional athletes and was trained from childhood to be a weightlifter. The family came to Night City for a track meet, and her father Gunnar was drawn into the underground fight circuit of a gang called the Animals. He was killed in a shootout between the Animals and the Voodoo Boys.
Dorio spent years hating both gangs. One night she followed an Animal into a bar bathroom with a gun and could not pull the trigger. Maine, who had been following her, shot the man for her, and offered her a job. She said yes on the spot.
What she does for the crew#
Dorio arrives with Maine and Pilar at the end of episode 2, when the crew corners David at Lucy's place. She is the one who tells Pilar to ease off once David explains that Gloria is dead. In episode 3 her job on the Maxim heist is to clone his car keys while Rebecca distracts him.
In episode 4 she trains David: a punch that sends the heavy bag several feet into the air. She and Maine also notice, before anyone else, that David and Lucy are getting close, and they quietly arrange for the two of them to be alone. Our read: that is the nicest thing anyone on the crew does for David, and it is easy to miss.
Spoilers What happens to her
When JK captures David in episode 5, Dorio takes over leading the crew and, with Lucy, gets him back. In episode 6 she tries to get Maine to downgrade his cyberware as he slides into cyberpsychosis, and injects him with immunoblockers to stop an episode.
She dies in the firefight with Trauma Team and NCPD after Tanaka's death, and her death is what tips Maine over. Lucy writes "You were the only family I ever had" on the shared niche for Dorio, Maine and Pilar.
Fixer's notes#
Opinion: Dorio is the one on the crew you will want more of, and the show knows it. Episode 4 is where you fall for her.
Meet the rest of the original crew at Maine, Pilar and Rebecca. The full series is on the Edgerunners episode guide.
