Falco in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: The Getaway Driver Who Also Shows Up in 2077

EdgerunnersUpdated

The short version

Falco is the nomad getaway driver who works with Maine's crew and later David's in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. He is voiced by Yasuyuki Kase in Japanese and Matthew Mercer in English, and he is also the character who hands V David's jacket in Cyberpunk 2077.

Who Falco is#

Falco is a Texan with a mustache, a Southern drawl and a single silver cyberarm, and he drives a customized Chevillon Emperor. He stays calm and a little distant with the crew, takes orders without arguing and does the job. The exception is when someone on the crew gets hurt, which is when he loses his temper.

He grew up on a Texas farm that worked with Biotechnica, liked driving tractors far too fast, and moved on to racing, where he won more than twelve races in a row. He came to Night City for harder courses and liked that he did not always win.

How he fits in#

Falco was one of Maine's first friends in Night City and worked with the crew without ever being a full member. He took paid gigs around the city, got access to the Afterlife and learned to like the tension. After the time skip he is a regular on David's missions.

At the after-party he tells David he never thought David had what it took to join Maine's crew. Opinion: that is as close as Falco gets to a compliment.

Spoilers

What happens to him

Falco is one of two survivors of the Arasaka Tower run. He uses the Emperor as cover while Rebecca holds off police and troops, and when Adam Smasher kills Rebecca, he throws himself at Smasher and is knocked back with one punch. Then he does what David asks: gets Lucy out and keeps the promise to split the reward with her.

Our read: he is the series' proof that a promise can outlive the person who made it. He stores the dead crew's things in a container in the Badlands, including David's jacket.

Falco in Cyberpunk 2077

In the game's Over the Edge side job V finds a braindance with David's name on it, asks the fixer Muamar Reyes about him and gets a text from Falco. He says his crew's fifteen minutes of fame are over, that V and David have a lot in common, and tells V to collect a gift from Muamar. The gift is David's jacket, which V can keep.

The quest came with Patch 1.6, a week before the series premiered. The braindance that starts it is the opening scene of the show's first episode.

Fixer's notes#

If you only know Falco from the game, watch the series: the sense of a man handing a coat to a stranger carries a lot more weight once you have seen the show. See David Martinez and V for the two people on either side of the handoff.
