Is Cyberpunk 2077 open world?#
Yes. Night City has seven regions: City Center, Watson, Westbrook, Heywood, Pacifica, Santo Domingo and Dogtown (with Phantom Liberty), plus the Badlands outside the city. Fixers and other characters hand out the quests across all of them, and you will get lost in at least one.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 single-player?#
Yes. There is no multiplayer mode. The only other person in your head is Johnny, and he does not share the controller.
When is Cyberpunk 2077 set?#
The game takes place in 2077 in Night City, California. Johnny Silverhand died in 2023, which is why he exists only as a digital copy. See our Cyberpunk timeline page for the wider history.
What is the max level in Cyberpunk 2077?#
Phantom Liberty raises the character level cap to 60. Street Cred, the separate reputation track that opens vendors and cars, tops out at 50. Two bars, two jobs: one makes you strong, the other makes you shop better.
Spoilers How many endings does Cyberpunk 2077 have?
Five main endings. Four are in the base game (The Devil, The Star, The Sun, Temperance), and Phantom Liberty adds The Tower. There is also a secret variation of The Sun and a suicide ending. None of them are happy for free. Our endings page lists the requirements.
Is Phantom Liberty worth it?#
Our read: yes, without a long argument. It adds Dogtown, a spy-thriller story with Idris Elba, a new Relic skill tree and a new ending. Critics praised it and it sold over 10 million copies. It needs the base game, and the Ultimate Edition bundles both. More on the Phantom Liberty page.
Do you need to buy Phantom Liberty separately?#
Only if you own the base game alone. The Ultimate Edition, released December 5, 2023, includes both. Phantom Liberty is not on PS4 or Xbox One, so old consoles are out of luck.
Can you romance Johnny Silverhand?#
No. The four romance options are Judy, Panam, River and Kerry. Johnny has his own scenes with Rogue and Ruby, but he takes over V's body to do it, and V cannot pursue him. He is the roommate, not the date.
Who can you romance in Cyberpunk 2077?#
Judy needs a feminine body and voice. River needs a feminine body. Panam needs a masculine body. Kerry needs a masculine body and voice. Lifepath does not matter, so don't stress that pick. Full details are on our romance options page.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 canon with Edgerunners?#
Yes. Edgerunners is a standalone tie-in to the game, set in 2075 and 2076 in the same Night City. It runs a year before the game. Edgerunners 2, a separate sequel series, is set in 2078, so the game sits in the middle.
Do you need to watch Edgerunners before playing?#
No. The game stands alone, and the anime is a prequel tie-in. Watch it first if you want to see Night City before V gets there, but have tissues nearby. Start with Edgerunners.
Is Cyberpunk 2077 fixed now?#
Mostly, yes. The 2020 launch was bad, especially on PS4 and Xbox One. Update 2.0 in September 2023 rebuilt the core systems, and updates have kept coming, most recently 2.5 on October 22, 2026. Steam reviews reached Overwhelmingly Positive by January 2025. The comeback story is real.
What is the latest Cyberpunk 2077 update?#
Update 2.5, out October 22, 2026 with Edgerunners 2. New: a prequel side quest tied to the anime, a dual-wield perk for pistol-class weapons, and mods on consoles. Two pistols at once, finally.
Which platforms is Cyberpunk 2077 on?#
PC, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia at launch, Nintendo Switch 2 (June 5, 2025) and macOS (July 17, 2025). The Switch 2 version is the Ultimate Edition. Stadia is the one you can't play anymore.
Which lifepath should I pick?#

Can you finish Cyberpunk 2077 without killing anyone?#
Yes, other than robots. The game offers non-lethal weapons and cyberware for it. Pacifist runs are a legit flex in a city this violent.
Is there a third-person mode?#
Not by default. The game is first person, with third person only while driving and in a few rare story moments. Enjoy your car's good side while you can.
Who voices V and Johnny?#
Gavin Drea voices male V and Cherami Leigh voices female V. Keanu Reeves voices Johnny Silverhand. Idris Elba voices Solomon Reed in Phantom Liberty. Yes, that cast list is as good as it sounds.
How many copies has Cyberpunk 2077 sold?#
Over 40 million as of July 2026. It is one of the best-selling video games of all time, which is a long way from the launch headlines.
Is there a Cyberpunk 2077 sequel?#
Yes, a sequel was announced in October 2022 and is in development. No release date has been confirmed. Anyone quoting a date is guessing.
