A soldier from Chiba-11#

Takemura was born in Chiba-11, a slum with the highest murder rate in Japan. Not exactly a place that raises polite men, which is what makes him one. Arasaka military transporters picked children from the district for the army. He remembers washing his shirt in the canal because of a rumor that only the cleanest kids got chosen, and being picked felt like winning the lottery.

He joined Arasaka's special forces, graduated first from the academy, and was one of a hundred soldiers considered for Saburo Arasaka's personal security. He got the job. He trained Sandayu Oda, who now guards Hanako Arasaka.

How he meets V#

After the Konpeki Plaza heist, Takemura is accused of killing Saburo. He finds V in the opening of Playing for Time and takes them to Viktor Vektor's clinic.

Spoilers

What he wants from V

He wants V to help tell Hanako the truth: Yorinobu Arasaka killed their father. Down on the Street covers the plan with Oda and Wakako Okada, and Gimme Danger covers the parade job itself. Search and Destroy is the hideout ambush.

Spoilers

What happens to him

V and Takemura kidnap Hanako at the parade to speak with her, but Arasaka tracks them down and Adam Smasher takes her. In the hideout fight, V can run or go back for Takemura. Takemura helps V fight through Arasaka Tower, and they beat Smasher before reaching Yorinobu.

If V takes Hanako's offer for the Arasaka route, Takemura visits V in the orbital clinic and presents a Secure Your Soul contract. He is visibly shaken when V refuses.

In the Phantom Liberty ending where Reed's surgeons remove the Relic, Takemura and Hanako stage a coup against Yorinobu and it fails. Hanako dies, Yorinobu frames Takemura, and he ends up a fugitive.

Gear and history#

As Saburo's bodyguard he received one-of-a-kind cyberware, including an endoskeleton. His grandmother told him stories about yokai when he was a boy in Chiba-11.

Spoilers

A bad day to be loyal

Takemura spends the whole game being loyal to a company that has stopped being loyal to him. Opinion: that is the reason to listen to him when V disagrees, because he knows exactly what it cost.

Set him next to Adam Smasher, the other Arasaka lifer, to see two ways the same company can use a man up. The Arasaka page covers what he is up against, and Johnny Silverhand is the man who helped bomb the old tower.
