Cyberpunk 2077 Endings: Every Ending and How to Get Each One
The short version
Cyberpunk 2077 has four main endings (The Devil, The Star, The Sun, Temperance), plus a secret variation of The Sun, a suicide ending, and a fifth main ending, The Tower, added by Phantom Liberty. Your choices at Misty's rooftop in the mission Nocturne Op55N1 decide which one you get. Spoilers throughout.

How the endings work#
Everything gets decided in the last stretch. The Devil, which runs on Hanako Arasaka's help, is always open once the main jobs are done. The rest need you to have finished the personal side jobs of Rogue Amendiares or Panam Palmer first. On Misty's rooftop in Nocturne Op55N1 you pick who to call, and that fixes the route.
Back up your save before that mission. You can reload and see the others, and each ending has its own achievement.
What each ending needs#
Requirements only, no outcomes. The outcomes sit in the folded sections further down.
- The Devil: Save Takemura during Search and Destroy (the achievement needs his help; see the spoiler section below for the alternative), call Hanako on the rooftop, take the omega-blocker pills, finish Where Is My Mind?, then pick "[Sign Contract] I want to live" or "[Refuse to Sign] I'm going back to Earth".
- The Star: Finish Panam's side job Queen of the Highway, call Panam on the rooftop, take the omega-blockers, enter the well as V inside Mikoshi, and finish All Along the Watchtower.
- The Sun: Finish Rogue's side job Blistering Love by picking the right lines for Johnny during Chippin' In, choose Johnny's plan on the rooftop, take the pseudoendotrizine pills, cross the bridge as Johnny in Mikoshi, and finish Path of Glory.
- Temperance: Finish Panam's or Rogue's side job, ask either for help on the rooftop, cross the bridge as V (or enter the well as Johnny) inside Mikoshi, and finish New Dawn Fades.
- Secret ending: A secret version of The Sun. At the end of Chippin' In, in the Northern Oil Fields conversation with Johnny, pick three lines: "Nah, fucked that up too," "What do you want from me?" and "Ok. But as second chances go, this is your last." Then start Nocturne Op55N1, and on the rooftop do not choose anyone. After about five minutes Johnny offers one more option. Take it.
- Suicide ending: Choose the first dialogue option on Misty's rooftop. When Johnny asks if you are sure, pick "Could also just put all this to rest," then "[Toss pills] I know exactly what we're gonna do."
- The Tower: Needs Phantom Liberty, a choice in the mission Firestarter, and later a call to Reed in Who Wants to Live Forever or Nocturne Op55N1. You must end up handing Songbird to Solomon Reed, either by siding with her and then surrendering her, or by siding with Reed and sparing her in Somewhat Damaged. Any other outcome for her closes this route.
Spoilers The Devil: Hanako's deal
Gut punch: you sign with the corp that wrecked everyone, and it still works.
Yorinobu is ousted, and Arasaka removes and destroys the Relic. Signing means V uploads their engram into Mikoshi and waits for a new body.
Without Takemura's help, Hellman makes the offer instead and the achievement does not trigger.
Opinion: the cleanest corpo outcome and the coldest. Nobody here gets a goodbye, just a contract and a waiting room.
Spoilers The Star: leave with the Aldecaldos
Gut punch: you get a family and a few years to spend with them.
You leave Night City with Panam's nomad clan.
V survives with a shortened lifespan and goes looking for a fix. If you are with Panam or Judy, they leave the city with you. River and Kerry turn up at the watchtower but will not leave Night City, and that ends the romance.
Our read: the best first-time ending. It is the least costly of the base four, and it is the only one where V ends up with people around them.
Spoilers The Sun: a legend of the Afterlife
Gut punch: you become a story people tell at the bar, and you are not there to hear it.
You go with Rogue's plan.
V becomes a legend in the Afterlife. The last mission has V meet Mr. Blue Eyes in Rogue's old booth, then take a job at the Crystal Palace and float out of a ship's airlock into space. A romance with River or Kerry continues in this ending. Panam and Judy leave the city and end it.
Our read: the biggest swing and the loneliest one. Pick it if you want the myth, not the retirement plan.
Spoilers Temperance: Johnny keeps V's body
Gut punch: you hand your life to a dead man and watch him not call anyone back.
You let Johnny keep your body.
Johnny, now in V's body, leaves Night City and ignores the people V loved. They leave sorrowful or angry voicemails.
Opinion: the voicemails are the cruelest scene in the game, and the ending earns them. Hard to call it a good outcome, easy to call it a good scene.
Spoilers Secret ending: (Don't Fear) The Reaper
Gut punch: it is the only ending where Johnny asks first, and the answer might get you both killed.
This is a secret version of The Sun. If V dies in the Tower, the credits roll and everyone reacts as if V took their own life. If V succeeds, Rogue is still alive in the Sun epilogue.
Opinion: the riskiest pick, since dying in the Tower ends the run. It is also the one that feels most like V and Johnny finally agreeing on something.
Spoilers Suicide: the path of least resistance
Gut punch: one gunshot, no credits fanfare, no reward.
Johnny tells you it is not what he would have done and accepts it. A gunshot ends the scene. There are no rewards.
Our read: it exists because the game lets V give up, and it does not dress it up. See it once on a spare save, then reload.
Spoilers Phantom Liberty: The Tower
Gut punch: you live, and the world moved on without you.
You accept Reed's offer, and NUSA surgeons remove the Relic. The surgery also deletes Johnny's engram, puts V in a two-year coma during which most friends move on, and leaves permanent brain damage so V cannot use combat implants. V lives as a civilian. Our Phantom Liberty page covers the choice itself.
Our read: the strongest ending in the game, if you want the one that hurts. Nothing here is a trap. It is just what survival costs.
Fixer's notes: which one is best#
Opinion: pick The Star on a first run. Pick The Tower on a second, once you know what you are giving up.
Common misconception: it is not one big final choice. Which endings are open depends on the side jobs you finished earlier, and the rooftop call just picks from what you earned. Save before it and you can still try the others.
